Hillary and Barack. One of them has to be ‘Last person standing.”

The days are a little brighter for Illinois Senator Barack Obama. The days are a little darker for New York Senator Hillary Clinton. The main situation between the two has always been showing their differences. The only problem is the differences are more nuiances and small potatoes in the grander scheme of things.

Yesterday, they both took a big step toward the Democratic presidential nomination – at least one of them did. Obama easily took North Carolina. He was projected to wine the state easily; which he did by 14 points. Sen. Clinton promised to keep fighting the good fight, but it looks like the media is trying to make it look like an uphill fight for her.

Sen. Clinton may have lost North Carolina, but she narrowly won Indiana.

“Winning is everything” and “A win is a win” are two phrases that Many are accustomed to hearing. In this case, it appears that it may not matter for the freshman senator from New York. You see, Hillary won Indiana, but all we have heard is how Obama has soundly beat her in a state he was pre-determeined to carry. Hillary’s win is pretty winless.

Her win carries no clout and has no glory. Her win doesn’t motivate anyone – especially anyone in the democratic party. They are the ones who really lose. Instead of giving her campaign the shot in the arm that she desparately needed, they continue to show the divide of a party that quickly needs to find their voice. Even looking at the DNC (Democratic National Committee) website, you see the divide.

This has been a grueling primary between two capable foes. But only one of them will be allowed to face Republican John McCain in November’s presidential election.

West Virginia, Oregon and Kentucky are next. But it looks like things are slipping away from Hillary. My personal view is Hillary understands that she is done, but shes looking for a graceful way to bow-out. It’s not to say that she could still hang in there until the convention.

Looking at the way the country is set, Barack had better come with some real “Change.” America is in a recession, even if President Bush wishes to call it a slow-down. The housing market has been on a downward spiral for some time. The banking system is on life-support. Immigration has no resolution in sight. Health care is continually beyond the reach of more and more Americans. The nation is at war and unfortunately our great grandchildren will be paying on the Iraq War debt. The gap between the haves and the have nots is growing. Social security is crumbling.

Whichever the politican is that will face McCain, they have liberal maverick Republican on their hands. McCain may not be of the traditional GOP mold; but he is a GOP party member nonetheless.
