If you like business and travel, then the Association of Coporate Travel Executives (ACTE) is something you should consider joining. The organisation has been regarded as the foremost expert in the field of social networking.
Next month the ACTE will put on the association’s Global Education Conference here in Washington. Fortunately for those attending, Canadian internet media guru Amber MacArthur will give detail to the realities, practicalities, and pitfalls of social networking.
“The newest development in business travel management communications is social networking, which incorporates blogs, videos, and user-generated content to build awareness and support for corporate programs,” ACTE President Richard Crum, said. Numerous business travel industry suppliers and organizations are scampering to get some sort of social network into implementation. With that being said, Crum believes no one is more qualified in the industry than MacArthur. “There couldn’t be a more pertinent speaker for this conference,” he said.
MacArthur has had a distinguished career as a consultant for Hewlett-Packard, Bell, Microsoft and Adobe in the research and design of the latest Web networks. She is the co-founder of Arktyp (which designed TWiT.tv – one of the most influential podcast networks in the world) and served as a strategist for Razorfish. She was recently hired by motivational speaker and author, Tony Robbins, to oversee the strategic direction for his new social networking site.
“Communications and education in the business travel management profession stand to gain a great deal from the power of social networking,” said MacArthur. “This kind of cyber networking gives you instant access to the latest trends and issues in any industry, as well as to individuals and groups of people not within your normal circle. It’s truly the wave of the future.”
MacArthur is slated to give her keynote presentation on 19 May 2008 at 4:45p.m..
ACTE’s Global Education Conference in Washington, D.C., 18-20 May 2008 has already set the benchmark for innovation. Combined with Business Travel News’ Corporate Travel World, the program offers far more educational options to participants, while consolidating reduced registration fees and time spent out of the office. Furthermore, the agenda offers a track of courses designed and conducted by the McDonough School of Business, Georgetown University. Full conference details are available at www.acte.com.
